We're raising money for Solar Aid!

Solar Aid is a UK charity working to tackle poverty and climate change by bringing clean, renewable energy to rural Africa. We were really impressed by their practical and long term approach, and we think you will be too.

Solar Aid bring renewable energy to those most in need. By offering subsidised, affordable solar technology alongside ongoing training and support, communities are able to invest in reliable, durable and financially sustainable renewable systems.

Promising local entrepreneurs are also offered additional training in business management and the practical knowledge needed to run a small scale solar enterprise. As well as offering services like solar phone chargers and lighting, these new businesses provide jobs and wealth for the community.

Solar Aid manage this very efficiently. For every pound received only 8 pence goes on admin and running costs, the rest goes straight to the projects. Thanks to innovations in solar technology a school can now be lit for as little as £1,000! So it only takes a little to make a big difference.
